This was a beautiful day for an Easter Service at Magnolia....We still have a good number of the Magnolia Family that haven't gone up NORTH for the summer...I think that they are the wise ones to wait for just a few more days to let the weather settle down and the warmth to thaw the ground up for their return, but as I have said before we must do what we think is right for us.....
Pastor Stacey brought the message today from the four Gospels of the New Testament with the theme of " He has Risen".... These gospels each tell of events that happened after Christ had risen from the grave and just how the people acted and said....They tell of the Angels telling of how Christ had told of just what he would do and for them not to be afraid....We serve an awesome God that loves us and has shown us by giving his only son to take our place for the sins that we have committed so that we might have everlasting life if we will only except and believe in Jesus as our Savior... Jesus has said that" No man comes to the Father but by him"....This is a powerful message that all must study and think on for ourselves...Please read for yourself and see....
Remember to pray for any sick that you hear of and also for the ones that are leaving to head up the road for their summer homes....Safe travel and good health for all the family....God Bless All......See you in church next week.....
This blogs sole purpose has transitioned to one of keeping in touch with each other. Over the years it has been primarily for letting everyone know what is happening and also for promotion to add more folks to our Winter Texan family. The core of things has changed and we must change along with it. We still want to know what is happening with our friends no matter where they may be located. So continue to let us know where you are and what is on your plate.

Dick and Anita Nelson were...
Dick and Anita Nelson were involved in an accident over in McAllen last week. They kept Dick in the hospital for evaluation for a few days but he is home now. He plans to schedule surgery on his neck at a future date. Anita had some damage to her ribs and is finding it painful to move. Essentially they are both doing well and are home. It looks like a new car may be in their future plans as well.

Phyllis E. Neudorff Obituary
Phyllis E. Neudorff |
February 08, 1930 - March 22, 2013 |
Rhinelander, Wisconsin |
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. March 27, 2013 at Faith Baptist Church |
Visitation: 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. March 27, 2013 at Faith Baptist Church |
Phyllis E. Neudorff went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 22, 2013. She was born on February 8, 1930, in Elcho, Wisconsin to Joe and Lillian Pollock. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Joseph and Hyatt; four sisters, Vivian Dery, Anne Kelly, Katherine Tappa, and Dorothy Williams; a newborn daughter, Mary; and her husbands, Gabe Masters, Maurice Sjoblom, and Charles Neudorff. Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Jenny (Pete) Sjoblom Hinsa; two sons, Joseph Masters and Chris (Eileen) Sjoblom; two grandchildren, Shale (Brian) Etherington and James Sjoblom; two great grandchildren, Graysen and Berkleigh; and one sister, Audrey Kubiaczyk. Phyllis accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord on February 26, 1976, and spent the remainder of her life living as best she could to please Him. She taught Sunday school and adult Bible classes, and wrote a newspaper column "The Good Word" until a stroke in 2004 made it impossible to continue. She was a testimony speaker for Gideons International and spoke in many states and cities. She was also a published author and had short stories, testimonies, and poetry in national magazines and newspapers. Phyllis loved to volunteer and served in many nursing homes, senior centers, thrift stores, and delighted in driving people who had no car or could no longer drive as well as bringing food to those in need. She didn't do these things through her own strength, but only through the power of God, to whom she owed so much. A memorial service for Phyllis will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Faith Baptist Church in Rhinelander where she was a member. Rev. Mark Ring will officiate. Visitation with the family will take place from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church. Burial will take place at a later date in the Elcho Cemetery. Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414 / www.carlsonfh.com) is assisting the family with arrangements. (No picture available) |

Saturday night pool party
Saturday evening I watched as more and more people headed for the pool. The day was a hot one with temps hovering near 100 degrees. More and more kept coming and it started getting a little noisy. You know how sound bounces off water. I told my neighbor Peg that I thought there were 30 people in the pool. Just a guess. So I took a couple of photos so I could count and there were 28 but I know of 2 more who went up after the picture was taken.

Sunday Service
Well it was good to have Pastor Stacey and Tina back from their trip to Florida safe and sound....We were also glad that the weather was a little cooler than it has been the last few days, but is a lot warmer than what I hear from up NORTH weather is.... I guess I'm a softy but I don't like cold weather below 50 any more so am glad I can wait until much later to travel up to see the kids and grand kids....Oh well we all must do what we have to do....
Pastor Stacey brought the message today from the Book of John, Chapter 1, starting with verse 29 thu verse 34 with the theme of "Behold the Lamb of God"....This tells of John the Baptist who was baptizing people at the river....Jesus came to him to be baptized and John proclaimed him to be the Lamb of God...This is a great message to be studied for it tells of how people ask John of what he knew of Jesus....You must study this lesson for yourself to grasp the word for your faith to grow....
Remember to pray for all those that must travel on the roads home and for any one that you hear of that are sick....Pray for any of the Magnolia family that you think of cause you never know when they may need prayer for some reason of other...God Bless All...See you in Church next week....

Jerry and Edna Walker are home
Edna says they have been home two weeks and in that time she has not been warm once. They advised we stay put till it warms up. We have plans to take the warm with us. We will see how well that works for us.

From Erv & Hollie
Hi Barb; we got home on Tuesday. Monday a fellow with a bobcat spent an
hour finding our driveway. 10 degrees/35 windchill later we are
unloaded and winterized.. bye for now Erv and Hollie in coool Minn.
Home - Neillsville
Well, we managed to make it back home about 5:00 pm yesterday. We left Osceola IA around 8:00 AM and the first 100 miles were great even though windy. The further north we got there were several semis, cars, trucks, trailers etc. in the ditches, some being pulled out as we went by. The wind was fierce, to say the least. Once we got on I90 heading due east the wind was behind us and it was smooth sailing for the most part. In some places the wind was blowing snow across the road but it could have been worse. Monday night while still in Osceola we drained what little water we had left and blew out the lines and dumped the holding tanks so nothing would freeze because it was so cold, Now, this morning, Wednesday we had -2 degrees and this is what it looked like when we drove in last evening. We have snowbanks around the driveway that are at least 6 feet high. It is definitely NOT spring yet!!

We tend to forget...
We tend to forget how different the weather can be north of here and the pictures that Deon posted (see below) are a painful reminder. Now we have to think- Do we really want to head that direction? When will Spring arrive in the far north? What to do. What to do.

SNOW in IOWA!!
This is how it looked this morning at the Lakeside Casino in Osceola IA. We are going to try to get out of here tomorrow morning. Now we are worrying about what little water we have freezing. We have electric but no water hookups. The sun is coming out now but the wind is howling. We should have stayed down south longer!! Jim & Deon Spangler
