Ice is Nice
(In Case of Emergency)

Paramedics and EMT (Emergency Medical Treatment) personnel know what
"ICE" means and they will immediately turn to a victim's cell phone for
clues to that person's identity. You can make their job much easier if
you add an entry in the CONTACTS list in your cell phone under ICE, with
the name and phone number of the person that the emergency services
should call on your behalf.

It wouldn't hurt to list more than one contact -- ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc.

- - -

Originally established as a nationwide campaign in the UK, ICE (In Case
of Emergency) allows paramedics or police to be able to contact a
designated relative/next-of-kin in an emergency situation.

The idea was the brainchild of East Anglian Ambulance Service paramedic
Bob Brotchie and was launched in May this year. Bob, 41, who has been a
paramedic for 13 years, said: "I was reflecting on some of the calls
I've attended at the roadside where I had to look through the mobile
phone contacts struggling for information on a shocked or injured
person. Almost everyone carries a mobile phone now, and with ICE we'd
know immediately who to contact and what number to ring. The person may
even know their medical history."

A campaign has now rapidly spread throughout the world as a particular
consequence of the recent terrorist attacks in London. This is a simple
move which can save lives and put the minds of loved ones at rest.

And while you're at it, put your name in or on your cell phone and your
laptop and when it is accidentally left at the airport security
checkpoint, you can be paged immediately!

Obviously, this tip is not just for seniors. Makes sense to me. And while you're at it, maybe it would be a good idea to pass this
tip along to friends, family, and neighbors. The more ICE the better, if
it helps make EMS folks' jobs a bit easier.

While we were in the Spirit Lake area we stopped to visit with the Cooklins and were surprsed to learn that Dale has had quite a time of it this summer dealing with health issues. A doctor told him he had a diseased kidney and removed it. It followed that Dale had some serious complications from the surgery concerning his heart and recovered from that in the Vet's hospital in Soiux Falls. He is home now and on the road to recovery. We pray that the worst is behind him.

Thanks for the Prayers

Many thanks for all the prayers..... They must have been good ones as no one in the park was hurt in the storm that we know of......We also have little or no damage in the park to speak of at this time...... I am going to walk around the park tomorrow and take any pictures of any damage that I can see.... I will then put them on the blog for every one to see.....I don't plan on taking to many as we came through the storm real well..... We did get around 5 inches of rain by the afternoon and suppose to maybe get some more tonight... Just have to wait and see..... More later... Thanks again all....
Hi all
I just got off the phone with Barb and Clyde from the park in Texas. They are currently in a terrible wind/rain storm, with a tornado warning just coming on their radio for Donna. So they are hanging on, can't see a thing across the street right now. Dennis went around the park in his van and picked up loose things, tables,
trashcans, chairs, and such and people can claim them in the fall! He wore out a marker---writing names on things.
Several people left the park and went to motels, a few did stay to ride it out.
Have a good day and say a prayer for our people and property.

This from the Voss's
Hi to all----
Enclosed is a few pictures of what we did this week! We made a fast trip to Texas to see our daughter in Dallas--on to our home in Texas to deliver some furniture--back to Arkansas to pick 786 pounds of peaches--home again to pick 2 pounds of blackberries and 6 pounds of peas from the garden! Now it is a race to play catchup with the garden and process my peaches while selling peaches to our friends. Whew. (my mom never told me I would have to work this hard when I got married!! haha) Thanks to you all for the prayers and good thoughts for our safe travel.

Park Picture Update

Well at least Barb clicked on the Comment icon to let me know someone's looking.... It is looking kind of thin for campers now but all that will change this fall I'm hopeing...... Junior Bell has a 5th wheel parked east of Butch and Barb's spot under the shade tree for a while until he goes up to San Antonio to his son's place. I sure miss him not being across the street from me....

4th of July Park Picnic

Hi Sorry I haven't posted any thing for quite a while, but have been kind of out of the picture with all the traveling I've done lately.. I had to go to Nebraska to see my Mother as she was not doing very well and her nurse called me to come up there.. I was up there for 12 days and she got better. I then came back because of some Doctors appointments for myself. A few days later they called again and this time Marilyn went with me. I got to spend eight more days with my Mother before she passed away on June 13th in the morning.. She was buried June 17th in Iowa next to My Father in Macedonia.. We then spent a little time with the kids and a week with Marilyn's sister in Golden, Illinois before we came back to the valley.. We were sure glad to be back, heat and all.. I was tired of all the miles for sure..
The park had a picnic or barbecue in the little hall on the night of the 4th. You don't know what you missed because of all the good food that was there.. The guys did a great job of cooking the meat of all kinds. There were too many different dishes for me to tell you about them all, but YOU MISSED IT by not being here..
There are more changes in the park that I will try to post later. I will have to take some pictures and explain them as I post them.. I'll try not to keep you in stiches too long.. HA HA
Quite a crowd and hungry..
