This blogs sole purpose has transitioned to one of keeping in touch with each other. Over the years it has been primarily for letting everyone know what is happening and also for promotion to add more folks to our Winter Texan family. The core of things has changed and we must change along with it. We still want to know what is happening with our friends no matter where they may be located. Obituary for Marilla Heidebrink
Marilla Heidebrink, 89, of Spirit Lake passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Burial will be in the Lake View Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Schuchert-Lentz Funeral Home in Spirit Lake.
Marilla Mae (Gontjes) Heidebrink was born November 15, 1927, to Hazel (Park) Gontjes and John F. Gontjes in Sibley, IA. She graduated from Sibley High School. Marilla was united in marriage to Jake Heidebrink on June 27, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, IA. The couple later moved to Spirit Lake. She retired after 31 of service to Pure Fishing.
She loved to cook and will be fondly remembered for making the best potato salad. She also enjoyed sewing, making crafts, traveling, gardening and always loved helping out wherever she could. She had a deep passion and a great deal of pride being a lifetime member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary where she would often be found lending a hand whenever it was needed.
She is survived by her son Terry (Mary) Heidebrink and their children Ryan (Shawn) and their children McKayla and Emma; Molly and Jimmy; Son Paul (Deb) Heidebrink and their children Kyle Heidebrink and Kori (Eric) Clouse; sister Barbara (Roy) Marinchek; brother Leonard (Phyllis) Gontjes and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband.
