Crafting Bracelets

34 highly motivated women fashioned a bracelet this afternoon in Allen Hall. We will finish them up next Monday. It went quite well.

Weather

Whether the weather is cold,
Whether the weather is hot,
We will weather the weather, whatever the weather, whether we like it or not!

Our major storm they predicted did not materialize. Mixed blessing. This area desperately needs the moisture on one hand but on the other we are able to enjoy the moderate temperatures and all outdoor activities. An air cleansing rain would be a pleasure though.
Speaking of more weather...they are predicting 3 days with highs in the 50's. For us that is winter! People will stay inside more, furnaces will run and we all hunker down till it goes away...on Friday!

Sunday Service

We had a great number of worshipers this morning at the services at Magnolia....It seems that most of the Magnolia family has arrived from up NORTH for the season and many came to the service today...The lesson is a continuation of teaching from the Book of John Chapter 20 with today's theme "What is your Passion?"....We all are passionate about some areas of our lives whither we like to admit it or even realize it....Just some things that we are deeply interested in that affect our lives....We need to take time out of our busy lives and take the time to study the word of GOD and try to find the plan that he has for us...Just remember to also pray for guidance for yourself and your family as we all need help is some way or part of our daily life....Also pray for those that are sick and for all the family that is on the road here and those of the family members at home....GOD BLESS ALL.....

Garage sale day and hockey pucks

Today was garage sale day and it is a week late due to New Years Day being on a Saturday. There were lots of things to buy and sell. It is always a very productive day. Some felt sales were a little off due to the change in date. Next months sale should make up for it.
I received my order of a 100 hockey pucks. You might ask what we are doing with 100 hockey pucks in sunny South Texas. Last summer while we were in Michigan I went to an arts fair and they had these flower plates on sale for $35. I looked them over closely and thought it was something the ladies of Magnolia Park might have an interest in as a craft project. In the assembly we need hockey pucks for the attachment on the back. Thus I ordered 100. Anybody need a hockey puck?Bill Sturgeon is helping us out by drilling the holes using his drill press. We will be eternally grateful. I have discovered that Marine epoxy works great as an adhesive to hold it all together.

These are the plates I saw at the Arts Fair.

These are two that I have put together.

Tis the season

We are seeing a few new folks arriving nearly every day. We are not full yet but fuller than we have been. After a very humid day a couple of days ago it has cooled a bit and is drier. The problem with that is that it starts off a bit chilly in the morning and then warms up considerably through the day. Makes it hard to decide how to dress in the morning. If you put jeans on in the morning you are wishing they were shorts by 2:00 pm but is it worth  changing at that time? I know the sympathy level north of the Mason-Dixon line is very very low. We understand. Smileycons!

It's Hot!

Smileycons! It isn't the heat it's the humidity! All you Midwest folks that remember those steamy July and August days where the temperatures are high and the humidity is higher. That, my dear friends, is what we have here in Sunny South Texas . Am I complaining? Not for a nano second. Last year it was cold and rainy for a good part of our winter season. It is sure making up for it this winter season so far. We most certainly have summer in the middle of winter. That is the good news. The bad news is that our pool is not open and hasn't been for about three weeks. No word yet as to when it will be either. The pool rats are not happy.

Serious Doubts

It started off so slow this season I had serious doubts about the number of people in the park. But it is picking up a bit now with several people coming in the last few days. It hasn't stopped any of us from having fun. There are still many things to do and we can all be busy from sun up to sun down and beyond...and we are!! There is still room if you are up there in the cool, cool, cool of the season and wish you could get some warm in your cold and creaky bones.
I called a woman in SOUTHERN Arizona and she asked me about our weather. I had been contemplating turning on the AC and told her so. She said they are COLD. So it looks like south Texas has won the weather lottery this season!! Yippee!

Business Meeting

This morning will be the monthly business meeting of our park association. The association is sort of the administrative body of fun. We handle the business end of the activities of the park. It isn't a big job but it is one that needs done. This months meeting looks to be an easy one as there is nothing on the agenda but often times there are surprises. It happens at 9:30 this morning if you are reading this in time to join us.

First Sunday Service of the New Year

This morning was the first service of the New Year and it was a great start for sure...A good attendance with several members of the Magnolia Family coming in for the season...Pastor Stacey gave a great message this morning...He said that this was going to be the start of a series of teaching...The theme this morning "Looking for Jesus" came from the Book of John , chapter 20....We should all take a look at our selves and just how we should be looking for Jesus...Something for us all to consider...

Of course being the first Sunday of the month , Communion was given and breakfast was served after the service for all that wished to participate....I must say that it was very good and filling...Hats off to the cooks ...

Please remember to continue to pray for all those that are sick and those that are still on the road...If you think of someone, say a prayer for them at that time for we don't always know just when someone needs one for guidance in their lives....GOD BLESS ALL...

Trickle

A few more folks have trickled in this weekend. Bill and Jo Bruce are here. And I have noticed Blanche and Leo Tschetter have arrived as well.... May be more but not coming to my mind quickly.

I nearly forgot! The park shall not be named but they were blessed with this fellow in his little pop-up tent camper for a couple of weeks. I do not think we have ever seen such a sight nor want to ever again. He has now departed from that park but I pity the next one he lands in.

Dean and Betty Lewis

I talked to Betty the other day....she is so happy about Dean! The new doctor has really helped work a miracle with Dean. He is now getting around with just a cane! His meds were all changed, and he is on a high vitamin program. He is excited about coming to Texas and as soon as they can get things together, they are planning on coming South! (maybe 2 weeks or so) You will find her at the pool!! ha

Jon and Edy Larson

Please keep Jon Larson in your prayers. He is in the hospital again with a blood infection. Edy is having pain issues. Thank you

Sunday Service

Here it is the day after Christmas and the last Sunday of the year already...Will some one tell me just where the last year has gone so fast??? The season is well along, but there are still some winter Texans coming in....With Christmas past and the New Year coming up very fast the time is flying....

We had a great turn out for Sunday Service this morning even a it was a very cool temperature out side it was warm in the hall for the service....The lesson this morning was a continuation of the study on praying with the theme of " Keep Praying"...It was shown that to change things in our lives and in the country we need as a people, as a family, and as a nation for changes...A great lesson and much to think about...Remember to pray for all that are sick and those on the road....GOD BLESS ALL.....
