The Brooker's and the Gordon's decide to go to the kite festival. So we leave the park about 10:00AM. We all know we must be careful in Los Fresnos or a ticket will be in our future but as we approach Los Fresnos, traffic slows to a crawl. We were unaware that the day was also the rodeo parade in Los Fresnos or we would have chosen a different route. There is only one road through, so there is no choice but to follow the detour and endure. Los Fresnos is nothing more than a wide spot in the road. The 2010 census have them with a population of 5,542. It took more than 45 minutes to snail our way through the town. Once on the other side we breathe a sigh of relief. Silly us! We get to Port Isabel and find ourselves crawling along once again! Finally we cross the causeway. Most of the traffic turns left to the kites but we turn right to get to Dirty Al's for lunch. Smart decision on our part as we get right in. After our absolutely delicious meal we make our way to the kite festival. More waiting in traffic but the event is a come and go type thing and after an hour or two of kites most people are ready to move on so parking spots do open up and seating is not a problem.(Bring your own chair) We enjoyed the kites for an hour or so and then decided to walk on the beach. We used access number 9 and I put that in for our memory. We left the beach about 3:30 and once again find ourselves in a holding pattern to return across the causeway. A one hour car ride one way turned into a 2 hour ride one way. So much of our day was spent sitting in the car waiting for the ability to advance a few feet. Butch and I only go about once in 5 years and I doubt that 5 years from now we will remember how this day went. But then again maybe we will.
Shrimp basket with salad for me.

This blogs sole purpose has transitioned to one of keeping in touch with each other. Over the years it has been primarily for letting everyone know what is happening and also for promotion to add more folks to our Winter Texan family. The core of things has changed and we must change along with it. We still want to know what is happening with our friends no matter where they may be located. So continue to let us know where you are and what is on your plate.
