Brandt, Donald (Don)

Don Brandt, age 81, of Rural Pittsville, WI passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 22, 2015 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield, WI.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 26th at 1:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3214 Mannville Lane, Marshfield.

Don was born on November 11, 1933 to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Brandt in the same home in which he resided for the past 46 years.

He married Donna Johnson on May 3, 1955, they just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this spring with family and friends. He worked at Arts Body Shop for 45 years retiring in 1994. His hobbies included riding motorcycles, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing.

Don is survived by his wife Donna, 3 daughters, Debbie (Craig) Eggen, Dianne (Donald) Luther, Dawn (Duane) Svenson. 6 grandchildren, Dane (Rhonda) Luther, Doddie (Joe) Regenold, Daniel (Danielle) Luther, Christopher (Angela) Eggen, Leslie (Josh) Jerrett, Emma (Jonathan) Starck. 11 great grandchildren, Logan, Dylan, Dryden, Dawson, Daryn, Dalton, Dominic, Molly, Drew, Dayton and Devin. Also Cousins, nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister Sally (Bob) Burt.

The Cremation Society of Wisconsin is assisting the family.

Donnie died today at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, WI.  Services will be Wednesday (8/26) at 1 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Marshfield, WI.

I am a Seen-ager. (Senior teenager)

I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 60 years later.
I don’t have to go to school or work.
I get an allowance (pensions).
I have my own pad.
I don’t have a curfew.
I have a driver’s licence and my own car.
I have ID that gets me into bars and the Beer Store.
The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant.
And I don’t have acne.
Life is great.

Esther Sheldon Passed

Esther V. Shelden, 98, of Brookings, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at The United Living Community in Brookings. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 8, 2015 at First Lutheran Church in Brookings. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pmFriday at Rude’s Funeral Home in Brookings.

Esther Viola Isackson was born on February 8, 1917 in Brookings County, SD the daughter of Martin and Mary Louisa (Lee) Isackson. She received her education in rural school in Medary Township and also attended Brookings High School. She was united in marriage to Harold W. Shelden on September 28, 1935 in Brookings. After their marriage, they farmed in Brookings County until their retirement in 1997. Esther and Harold wintered in Texas for 35 years until 2010.

Esther was a baptized and a lifelong member in the First Lutheran Church in Brookings. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, baking, square dancing with the Circle and Swing Club and traveling with their friends in the Ring Neck Winnie Traveling Club. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

Esther is survived by her daughter, Dorothy (Vernon) Wendt, of White, SD; seven grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; son, David; one grandchild, Randy; one brother, Louis and one sister, Martha.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Marian French, age 64 years, resident of Thunder Bay, ON passed away peacefully at home on June 25th, 2015. Born January 15th, 1951 in Fort William, ON. She enjoyed camping, grandkids and travelling. Marian is survived by her husband Alan French; children: Neal Chicoine, Brad Chicoine (Krista), Shelley French (Jason), Kerri French; grandchildren: Brandon, Autumn, Riley, Ryan, Cody, Brianna and great granddaughter Thalia; siblings Yvonne Guillet, Shirley, Bill Hughes, Larry Hosanna, Henry and Eileen Hosanna, Stanley and Margaret Hosanna and David Hosanna. She was predeceased by her "bestest" friend Bonnie Carniato. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held on June 30th, 2015 at the Airlane in the Madrid Room. Donations to the Northern Cancer Fund would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Lemonade Pudding Fruit Salad

Lemonade Pudding Fruit Salad

Ingredients:
1 medium honeydew, peeled, seeded and cubed
  1 medium cantaloupe, peeled, seeded and cubed
  2 cups cubed seedless watermelon
  2 medium peaches, sliced
  2 medium nectarines, sliced
  1 cup seedless red grapes
  1 cup halved fresh strawberries
  1 can (11 ounces) mandarin oranges, drained
  2 medium kiwifruit, peeled, halved and sliced
  2 medium firm bananas, sliced
  1 large Granny Smith apple, cubed
  1 can (12 ounces) frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
  1 package (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix

Directions:
In a large bowl, combine the first nine ingredients.
 Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Just before serving, stir in bananas and apple. Combine lemonade concentrate and dry pudding mix; pour over fruit and toss to coat. Yield: 20 servings (3/4 cup each).

Jim and I took our granddaughter to the park for a busy week!  We couldn't stay any longer because our garden veggies were about ready to harvest.

The grapefruit and lemon trees are loaded with fruit.....also I included a few pictures of us enjoying our 4th of July pot luck.  We really enjoyed the meal and opportunity to see people during the summer.

Update from Kay Voss

We arrived home safe and sound around 3:15 PM today!.....lots of hard driving to get here.  I hope the picture comes thru---the reason we hurried to get back home from Texas!  Peas, cukes, green beans and raspberries.   There were more raspberries on the ground (overripe) than in our pans!   So happy we got here for the first picking of the peas;  we were worried about them.

We had a great time in Texas.   Jim and Breanna went fishing, I went to ropa with Linda!  We had a patio sale and a fun time at the 4th of July party!   We met and visited with our new manager;  a very nice lady.  Breanna drove Larry and Linda's golf cart and visited the pool many times.  Breanna played cribbage with Larry and Jim and really enjoyed ganging up on grandpa....lots of giggles about it.  Breanna and Jim also did some trap shooting.  I weeded and weeded. (lots of rain and heat make weeds)  I also weeded for 2 neighbors, but nobody will notice by this fall, I am sure!  Our tiny papaya sprout grew to a good 5 feet tall in just 2 months!  The weather was warm, but that is why AC was invented.  the cotton is blooming, sorghum is being harvested and corn is drying in the fields.    All for now,  Kay

Summertime Magnolia

Today, Linda and I went to Produce street ropa....for an hour.  It was hot, but with a good breeze....but an hour wiped us out!  We both got a bag.....mine was $4.40.  WITH our winter discount!!! Ha.  Then home to wash the clothes.

I went to crafts.   11 women there, not counting Doral 4yr old ggdaughter!   Breanna was counted.....Marie Flood gave  crochet lessons.   Jim and Breanna went on Danny B for fishing, they got a nice panful and she came to crafts later.   A good day.   Breanna is in the pool now....she will sleep good tonite.   Larry Kraft and his gdaughter will be here tomorrow.   The kids are  about the same age, so they should have fun.  All for now,  Kay

This is a flower growing in the cement behind Carmen's car!!!!  Just a tiny hole that it is growing out of!!!   Did she plant it there?  Venica   (I spelled it wrong)      like what we have in our front.  I know it spreads easily.  I suppose all the rain helped it grow.    Funny
