Comments
I remember all the fun times we had together on the way and in the park at Cedar
Point with our beloved Aunt Rose :).
We went down for a couple days with Uncle Bob and my parents & my brother,
Scott. U. Bob would grab us from behind in the roller coasters & say "Now your in for it!! There's no going back now!!! " And he'd laugh so loud. Aunt Rose & my Mom (Rose's sister Sylvia ) would both scream all the way down the first big hill... !
We'll miss your laughter A. Rose... Love you lots!!

Olympics at Magnolia

These people were all busy this morning participating in part of the annual Olympics which take place at various park locations each winter. It has been difficult in some cases to get people to participate but these folks were all having a good time and look - if you play, you almost always get fed. It not only takes people to play the games but people to volunteer to help get things ready and serve the food. It's too late this year but think about joining in, one way or another next year.

Partial Lunar Eclipse

I've been asked to post pictures of the partial lunar eclipse the other night. It was very hard to see, just a slight darkening along the one side. I did take a bunch of photos but they are all very similar to this one.

Hard to face but oh so true.

Nobody wants your parent's stuff. Many of us have already faced this fact. I ran across this excellent article about it and for those who are ready to face it there is some good advice.

Sherwin Linton Show

A rapt audience

Fred Rabe

Dale and Caroline Eichor

It's a HOT one

The thermometer is reading 87 degrees at 12:48 pm. At 6:30 am it was 71 degrees. So we are in a warming trend on February 11th. That is the way it is sometimes in Sunny South Texas.
This afternoon Sherwin Linton will be entertaining us in Allen hall. Sherwin Linton, you ask? You can read his bio here.
http://www.sherwinlinton.com/SiteBio.htm

My new camera has arrived and I will be experimenting with it from here to eternity. Here are my first efforts.
An older unit in the park is being removed today. For the sidewalk superintendents, it is located on east Pecos street.

 The colors appealed to me.

On Cottonwood street.

The shufflers shuffled this morning.

Dean and Marilyn were here today

Dean Martin and Marilyn Monroe stopped by to entertain us and say so-long for now to Dottie. Dean and Marilyn, otherwise known as Bob and Sherri Lynn, the new managers of Magnolia Village put on an excellent and very professional show singing Dean and Marilyn songs. Bob is every bit the crooner that Dean was and his music falls softly on the ear. And Marilyn is a joy for all the gentlemen to gaze upon.

Fred, 92, was president for a day and enjoyed the attention.

Elmer was born on August 28th, 1943 to Otto and Margaret (Arndt) Will in Wausau, Wisconsin. As a child the family moved to Amery. He was a plumber in Amery for many years. He loved Nascar, camping, traveling and doing crafts.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Amery Hospital for all their kind and compassionate care given to Elmer and Family.

Smooth Transition

There has been a smooth transition with the manager change and today marks a party at 3:30 in Allen Hall with a send-off for Dottie and a get-acquainted for Bob and Sherri Lynn. Pictures of the event will be posted so check back in tomorrow.
We know our friends, family and wanna-be retirees check in on us to see what they are missing or hope to be doing soon and I want to reassure them all that it is true. This is the good life and we are in the best place to be enjoying it.

The weather this season has been a blessing. The propane guy is losing money. We like him. He takes good care of those of us who buy from him and we are sorry for his loss while at the same time enjoying Sunny South Texas as we hope it will always be. Sunny and warm.

We have a couple in the park who came down from Nebraska to spend a month and when the end of the stay came close they checked the temperature back home and it was 21 degrees so they extended their stay.

So if you are tired of winter and can cut out some time to be here this is the year to do it.

The Busiest of Times

We are smack in the middle of the busiest time of the season. It seems we all feel like we have too much to do and not enough time to do it. It happens every season and we seem to manage very well in the end.

The directory has been taken to the printer and we will be able to purchase it very soon. No promises from me but it is possible it could be ready by next Tuesday so have some extra money in your pocket on Tuesday coffee hour just in case.

Next Thursday at 3:30 PM is a Going Away Party for Dottie in Allen Hall. Our new manager Bob Caudle and his wife Sherri Lynn will be hosts and entertainers for the party

I have purchased a new camera. It is not yet in my possession but when it is you will likely see an uptick in photos.
In the meantime, we will have blasts from the past.
Pictured here are Fred Rabe, Eula Henderson, Bill Moritz and Doris Moritz

And on the bike ride, we encountered some genuine Texas cattle.
