In the Winter Texan Monthly-October edition were many articles of interest. I learned that approximately 64,000 winter Texans come to the valley each year spending an estimated 606.7 million dollars.
In the same edition was a discussion of the border rules that went into affect June 1, 2009. US Border inspectors said they will not and do not prevent US citizens from returning to the US but it does go a whole lot smoother if you have a passport. Any other kind of ID will get much closer scrutiny. In the same article they tell us that travel to Mexico was down by nearly 30% from the same period of time the year previously.
Nuevo Progresso is doing all they can to entice gringos back to Mexico but fear of being prevented from returning to the good ol' USA is a powerful deterrent.
We have been down once and other than the very light crowds things seemed to be mostly the same.
This blogs sole purpose has transitioned to one of keeping in touch with each other. Over the years it has been primarily for letting everyone know what is happening and also for promotion to add more folks to our Winter Texan family. The core of things has changed and we must change along with it. We still want to know what is happening with our friends no matter where they may be located. So continue to let us know where you are and what is on your plate.
