This blogs sole purpose has transitioned to one of keeping in touch with each other. Over the years it has been primarily for letting everyone know what is happening and also for promotion to add more folks to our Winter Texan family. The core of things has changed and we must change along with it. We still want to know what is happening with our friends no matter where they may be located. Creamy Ham & Potato Soup
A good cook here in the park told me she had tried a new recipe and it was very good. She brought me a sample of it and she was not kidding. VERY good. I tasted it cold and it was even good that way!
So lucky you...here is the recipe:
Recipe: Creamy Ham & Potato Soup 1/6/2009

2 C Potatoes cut up
1 C Carrots chopped
1/2 C celery chopped
1 C water
1/2 C onions chopped
1/4 tsp dried Thyme or Basil
1/4 tsp pepper
10 oz can cream of celery or cream of mushroom soup
1/4 C shredded American cheese
crushed dry dill
1 C ham chopped
1 1/2 C half and half or milk
In large saucepan combine potatoes, water,carrot, onion, celery, thyme and
pepper. Bring to a boil and reduce heat. Simmer, covered for 10-15 minutes or until
potatoes are tender.
Stir in half and half, soup and ham;heat through. Do not boil. Reduce heat to low.
Add cheese and stir until melted. Garnish each serving with chives, cracked
pepper and/or additional cheese. Makes 4 servings.
