... A WINTRY HOLIDAY WEEKEND IS EXPECTED FOR DEEP SOUTH TEXAS...
A STRONG WINTER COLD FRONT WILL MOVE ACROSS DEEP SOUTH TEXAS ON WEDNESDAY. IN THE WAKE OF THIS FRONT... COLD CANADIAN AIR WILL INVADE THE AREA BRINGING AN END TO THE MILD WEATHER PATTERN THAT HAS PREVAILED OVER THE REGION OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS. TEMPERATURES AROUND DEEP SOUTH TEXAS ON WEDNESDAY WILL PEAK EARLY IN THE DAY IN MIDDLE 60S TO LOWER 70S. AS THE COLD AIR MASS SPREADS ACROSS THE REGION... THE MERCURY WILL CONTINUE TO FALL THROUGHOUT THE DAY EVENTUALLY DROPPING INTO THE UPPER 30S TO LOWER 40S BY EARLY THURSDAY MORNING. DAYTIME HIGHS ON THURSDAY WILL STRUGGLE TO CLIMB OUT OF THE UPPER 40S TO LOWER 50S.
WIDESPREAD FREEZING TEMPERATURES WILL BE LIKELY FOR THURSDAY NIGHT ACROSS DEEP SOUTH TEXAS AS THE MERCURY WILL FALL TO NEAR THE FREEZING MARK BY SUNRISE FRIDAY. AFTERNOON HIGHS ON FRIDAY WILL NOT IMPROVE MUCH WITH THE TEMPERATURE READINGS ONLY REACHING INTO THE LOWER TO MIDDLE 40S. ANOTHER NIGHT OF FREEZING TEMPERATURES IS EXPECTED AGAIN FOR FRIDAY NIGHT AND EARLY SATURDAY MORNING AS THE MERCURY WILL FALL EVEN FURTHER REACHING THE UPPER 20S TO LOWER 30S BY SUNRISE CHRISTMAS MORNING.
THE COLD TEMPERATURE READINGS WILL SLOWLY BEGIN TO WARM UP LATE SATURDAY AND SUNDAY WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES REACHING BACK INTO THE 50S BY SUNDAY.
IN ADDITION TO THE FREEZING TEMPERATURES... THERE WILL BE THE POTENTIAL FOR A MIXTURE OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION ON FRIDAY AND THIS POTENTIAL WILL CONTINUE INTO FRIDAY NIGHT. AT THE MOMENT... THE BEST CHANCE FOR FREEZING OR FROZEN PRECIPITATION WILL BE ON FRIDAY. THE PRECIPITATION WILL LIKELY START AS A COLD RAIN ON THURSDAY NIGHT BUT THEN MAY CHANGE INTO A MIXTURE OF RAIN... FREEZING RAIN... SLEET OR SNOW FLURRIES LATER IN THE DAY FRIDAY ESPECIALLY ALONG AND WEST OF THE HIGHWAY 77 CORRIDOR.
HOWEVER... SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS OF FROZEN PRECIPITATION ARE NOT EXPECTED....
