As near as can be told these kittens were dropped off in the park on Jam day (Tuesday). When we first saw them there were three but now there are only two. They have been partially rescued by the Harpers where they are currently living in the back of their pickup. They have litter and are using it. They are people friendly, cute and cuddly. Eating well. The Harpers say they are accustomed to riding in the back of the pickup. They are free to anyone willing to give them a good home. In the pictures the black one is a bit hard to see. The Harpers and the kittens are on Lot #2 Cherry street. All of them would be glad to see you.
This blogs sole purpose has transitioned to one of keeping in touch with each other. Over the years it has been primarily for letting everyone know what is happening and also for promotion to add more folks to our Winter Texan family. The core of things has changed and we must change along with it. We still want to know what is happening with our friends no matter where they may be located. So continue to let us know where you are and what is on your plate.

Crafty
We have a bunch of crafty people in our park. Monday afternoon you will find the crafters at one end and the woodcarvers at the other end of Allen Hall. All of these people are willing to share their expertise and teach anyone who cares to learn the craft they may be doing at the time.
Several years ago Dorothy Wendt taught me how to do Swedish Weaving on monk's cloth and I loved it. Still do. And my favorite piece is still my first one and then a few years ago I started beading and set the Swedish weaving aside, always with the idea of picking it up again. Recently I picked up an afghan I had set aside about 3 years ago and finished it.
If you ever see a craft being done around the park that strikes your fancy be sure to ask about it because someone will be willing to show you how to do it.

Sunday Service
This morning Pastor Stacey had a great message for his teaching of the Word of God this beautiful day.....It is always good to hear the Word of God being taught and studied.....It always makes me go over the message again and restudy what was said....As I said Pastor brought the message on the continuing study of the Book of Acts, Chapter 2, starting from verse 17 with the theme of "Staying in the Presence of God"....This study shows we need to be aware of just what is happening in the world and around us....The signs of the times are upon us it seems and we should always be doing our best to stay in God's will....We sometimes try to do things before we pray and ask God just what his will for us is....I know that it is hard sometimes for I have done it myself and have paid the price so to speak....I am just glad that God is a forgiving God or we would all be in a lot of trouble....Please study the lesson for yourself and think on the words....God Bless All.....See you in Church next week...

Karl Kapke update
Karl had a set back, Wednesday night they had to
move him back into the ICU unit. His blood pressure got real low and heart
beat was off.
This afternoon they moved him out of ICU and into a
regular room.
He still gets out of breath but is on the way to
recovery.
Tonight he went on his longest walk, The
nurse said it was 153.8 yards.
It's going to be a long road to recovery. He
can not drive the car for 4 weeks. And we will have to have his blood
checked twice a week for a while, will learn more about it during the discharge
procedure.
At this time we are not even thinking of getting to
TX this year.
Thanks for all the prayers and well
wishes.

H.E.B. Feast of Sharing
For those of you unfamiliar with the event, H.E.B. puts out a full meal for free to all their customers. Some people have the mistaken idea it is for the needy. Not true at all. It is meant to be a Thank You to all of us who use H.E.B.for their grocery store. The date and place are listed below.

Kapke Update
They moved Karl out of ICU this morning and had him
sitting in a recliner.
Early this afternoon they took him for a walk down
the hall. He did really good. All of the nurses are saying how good a patient he is. Still has a number of wires connected, but hopefully they
will be able to take them out tomorrow. He is getting some protein drink
and a frozen juice for dinner tonight.

Upcoming Christmas Parade plus.

Karl's surgery results
Karl's surgery today went good. We had to be
in the hospial at 5:15 this morning so it has been a long day.
They started the surgery at 7:15 and were done at
10:50. We saw the Dr. and everything went fine. Now it is a long road
to recovery. He had his color back and was talking after 4:30. Has
to stay in the ICU tonight and most of tomorrow. He has a nurse in with
him at all times. He will be in the hospital for the rest of the
week.
Will keep you all posted as time goes
on.
Thanks for all the prayers and well
wishes.

Fox, Parrots and other business
We have two grey fox in the park. There may be more. Sandy told me that 4 have been captured but these two remaining ones seem to be very adept at avoiding capture. They have been seen in trees which I doubted. So I googled 'will fox climb trees' and it seems they will. That is, grey fox will climb trees but it seems red fox will not...unless they have been in an area where there are grey fox and then the grey fox will teach the red fox and both colors will climb trees. They did say that the trees have to be fairly easy ones to climb because their claws are not designed for climbing. Doubt this whole business? Google it yourself and see what info you find about it. And let me know. I will share it.
Our old friends the parrots have been landing in the park. I happened to get a couple of pictures. These are wild parrots. It is really funny when the mocking birds pick up on the parrot squawks. The parrots fly at least in twos but sometimes a whole flock. Even when it is a whole flock they seem to pair off. Very interesting birds.
Business meeting today. It was a lively one but you will have to come to the January meeting and hear the minutes to be up to speed on all the discussion.
We have had quite a few new arrivals in the past two days. It's a relief to see them. We were beginning to wonder what kind of weird year it would be. We are not out of the woods yet. But it is getting better.
