This blogs sole purpose has transitioned to one of keeping in touch with each other. Over the years it has been primarily for letting everyone know what is happening and also for promotion to add more folks to our Winter Texan family. The core of things has changed and we must change along with it. We still want to know what is happening with our friends no matter where they may be located. So continue to let us know where you are and what is on your plate.

Our new wind turbine!
We have been working on putting up a 10Kw wind turbine for our own electricity, plus extra to sell back to the local REA. It just got up on Monday---we spend a good bit of time looking UP at it! ha It is way over the tree tops, and can be seen for miles.

Service at Magnolia
This morning as we got to Magnolia we were surprised to find that Don and Barbara Howard were joining us in the service...They are going to be down visiting for a week or so, Don told me...They both look great as the picture shows that I took of the group before the service started...As you can tell we are still a small gathering until more of the Magnolia Family shows up for the new season...We just need to be patient, it will be getting cold up NORTH and everyone knows that it we warm down in deep south Texas...HA HA...
Well the lesson this morning was on the theme of "God's Laws" in the Book of Romans...Some times we forget the basic fundamentals of Gods word in our lives and for our lives....We need to remember to start at home before we can go forth with the word...Again remember that there is several members of the family that need your prayers...You never know just when the power of prayer is needed by some one in the family...God Bless All.....

Llamas
Today we visited a llama farm south of Worthington, Mn. The most surprising for me was their soft "hummmmmm" sound that they make. Their fleece is so soft..... the lady next to me bought some yarn to use for doll hair. I considered buying a skein for sox---but decided it was a little expensive for 1 pair!

Sunday Service
Well after much rain last night, I was wondering if we would be setting in water when we went to Church service at Magnolia this morning....We had to walk around the usual puddles near the office corner, but it was dry in the little hall...
We managed to have a few more folk join us this morning so the group is slowly growing as a few more of the Magnolia family comes in for the season....It was good to see Eddie and Doris Culpepper in attendance....Their looking good too....
The lesson this morning was on the theme of "Who is Jesus seeking" with the scripture starting from St. Matthew Chapter 9 and verse 9...This was a great lesson that Pastor Stacey brought for the group to study...There is much to think about if you read and think about just what is said....It was also brought up during the service about several of the Magnolia family and friends that need prayer so any time you have time to say a prayer, please do so...If some one comes to your mind, you never know but they sure need some help right then....Keep Christ in your heart and love in your words..

Visitors from WI......
We had the best time with Edy and Jon Larson the past 2 days!! We surprised a few park people at the Lakefield gathering last night, which is always fun to do. The Larson's could only stay a short time, but we had a nice visit.
Palm Tree Downed on Cottonwood
Marie sent these photos of workers taking down the palm tree in front of the Magnolia Park home on Cottonwood where Dottie is currently residing. I have always thought this was a fascinating process considering their root base is only about a foot deep!
I picked out what I thought were the best shots, Marie.

Sunday Service
Sunday service at Magnolia was held again at the little hall....It is sure nice to be able to attend services at the park again after the summer layoff....Today's theme was "What a friend we have in Jesus"...Pastor is sure on track to provide us with great lessons taught from the Word of God in the coming year...We are so fortunate that God has opened the door for our teaching by having Pastor Stacey available to us...In the coming week try to remember to pray for any one of the Magnolia family that comes to your mind...You never know just when each of us needs prayer in our daily lives to help us through the trials of life...God Bless all...

The Urius family gathered together this summer in Iowa. Lucy is going to wonder how I came to have this picture. It's a secret but it has to do with the wonders of the computer.

First Church Service of the New Season
This morning the first service of the new season was attended by a small but happy group...Everyone was glad that services were starting again at Magnolia for the coming season as that means the Magnolia family will soon be coming down from up NORTH to fill the park again...Pastor Stacey gave a study on John 3 verse 16 and 17 with the emphasis on verse 17...Many studies stop with verse 16 and don't go on to 17...It sure brings together the whole word when you put them together....After the service rolls and fruit salad was served with much catching up on news from over the summer....We were in the little hall for the time being until a lot more of the family gets here...HA HA...I for one am glad services are started as I've sure missed them....

Season Starting??
Well I just heard that Church will be starting next Sunday at Magnolia so the new season must be close at hand...It seems like it has been a long summer in some ways, but then again it did go by very quickly...The heat and the mosquitoes just seemed to make it longer I would say....I hear that Pastor Stacey is very excited to preach the word again in Magnolia Park for the people...I will be glad to hear him again....I can't tell you much more until I learn more , but if you want to attend you better start south for you NORTHERN folk right away...See you when you get here.....

Story from Bill & Kay
For those of you who know Bill & Kay well this will give you a chuckle and not surprise you. For those of you who don't know them well, I hope you will get a chuckle. Bill & Kay were getting ready to go on a trip so Kay had pared down all the food in the fridge. A day before they were headed off on their trip Bill decided to go to the Farmers Market. Kay told him NOT to buy anything. Firmly she said, "DO NOT buy anything!". Bill has a shopping problem that is famous. He cannot seem to buy just one of anything.
Kay had a few errands to run before taking off on their trip and she came home to find 8 quarts of strawberries, 24 ears of corn, 4 pints of Blueberries, ( 4) 5 pound bags of sugar, 2 dozen eggs, and 6 tomatoes!
This is what Kay emailed to her friend Julie:
Funeral arrangements are pending for William R. Stilson, age 69 of Curtice, Ohio. He was reportedly found buried under 8 quarts of strawberries, 24 ears of corn, 4 pints of Blueberries, ( 4) 5 pound bags of sugar, 2 dozen eggs, and 6 tomatoes. He is survived by his overworked distraught wife Kay
Do you know anyone with this same problem? Maybe we need to start a support group?

Stilsons visit Brookers
Stilson's went on a summer trip to Iowa and Minnesota and then returning to Ohio by way of Michigan and stopped to visit with us. We are having a great time with lots of stories and catching up.
We gave them a tour of Thunder Bay Resort and happened to see the Elk. Resort customers pay to see the Elk and we were in a 'Keep Out' area to see them so do not tell anyone.;-) The big boy in this picture did not take his eyes off of us the entire time we looked at him.
