Checking in...

Just thought I better give the results of the GARAGE SALE last Saturday..... We had a great sale with lots of buyers and sellers.. A good time was had by all, lots of sales and bags of goods going out the door most of the morning... Don Howard said that the barbecue was a success with many sandwiches being sold....Marj had a bake sale for the Park and it did well also.... This morning was the last week for Coffee Time in the little hall as we are getting too crowded (over 30 in attendance) with the new ones coming in, so Don Soole said that next week it will be in Allen Hall even if it is a little warm ... We just need the room for all the ones that will be coming in this week as I hear that quite a few will be in by the next coffee.. Don't forget that the next GARAGE SALE will be November 3, with the first business meeting on the 5th, so just as well come before then to attend.....

A Sure Sign Of the New Season

Just in case you aren't in the park already, you need to know that the first GARAGE SALE of the new season will be this coming Saturday....We have quite a few signed up for tables and it looks like it will be a good one to start the year.... Don Howard is going to make barbecue sandwiches available so there will be food to eat..... That's always something that brings in a crowd, once they find out it's available....We have a few people coming in now that it is getting somewhat cooler up North.... I expect to see quite a few come in this month...If you are ready to start the new season with attending the first garage sale, you better hurry up.. HA HA.... The Tuesday Coffee is slowly gaining a few , but we are still having it in the little hall, but that will change pretty soon.. More later......

From Kay V.

We were guests of Mary and Dave for a few days.....We had a great time visiting with them and seeing the historic sights of President Lincoln in the area.

From Kay Voss

HI to all---
We went to see our former neighbors from the Park this week! Eileen and Jerald Lowrance, now at home in Farber, Mo. They are doing well, and send greetings to all old friends! Kay

I must say Kay, they do not look all that happy about leaving Magnolia Park.;-)

First Potluck for the new season

We had a great first potluck for the new season with a nice size crowd.. Twenty-nine people were fed a great meal.. Don and Marj Soole and Don Howard provided and cooked the meal for the first one of the season....They said that something special was going to come about and it sure did.. We had lasagna , scalloped potatoes, baked beans with pie, brownies, and ice cream cups for dessert... You can't beat that can you?? Eddie and Doris Culpepper and their girls showed up just in time for potluck supper, can you beat that for timing???? A lot of catching up on stories and plans for the coming year were talked about by all with many ideas for sure.. We are all looking forward to many more of the Magnolia family coming down in the days and weeks to follow..

Coffee Time on Tuesday is Starting for the New Season

Today was the first Tuesday Coffee gathering for the Park for the new season.. We had 15 brave souls show up with smiling faces and stories to tell. Everyone was trying to catch up on some of the news that each other had, and what they had done over the summer.. Rolls and a cake was the sweets for the morning and was enjoyed.. We had the coffee in the little hall so we could use the air-conditioning and with a small crowd it was just right with a little room to spare.. We all said that before long more of our Park Family would be returning and the new year will be getting started on every thing.. We have a group of people coming up and playing cards in the afternoons almost every day and they are looking for some more competition , so come on down whenever you can get ready.. It seems by the weather report that it's just as cool down here as in the mid west anyway.. HA HA I will try to do better with the posting from here on so bare with me.

News from our own

First of all, let me say that I have been sooo busy that getting any kind of blogging done is a challenge so this entry from Kay V. is a bit late but better late than not at all!
Barb B
And now from Kay...and thanks Kay!
Hi to all---
Well, we have had a fun and busy week so far....Mary and Dave came to visit us on Friday. Sat the men went to an auction--Mary and I went to garage sales. We did pretty good, then "hit the jackpot". Just like "ropa"---a FREE box. Heads down---____ in the air. The lady quickly brought us some bags. We did good, 2 coats (with zippers and liners) with mittens and jewelry in the pockets.....a nice big backpack, Tupperware, and some baby clothes. We got a knit blouse for Mary---25 cents.....I got another dehydrator. (I have a total of 5 now)
We have been to Walnut Grove for an outdoor play. That was very interesting! lived in the area all our lives and never had been there. It was a play about Laura Ingalls Wilder. Sunday we went to see Bernice at Spirit Lake, she wined and dined us (2 meals) and gave us a tour of the Lakes and all the pretty homes. Jim and I have been down there many times, but Bernice showed us many places new to us...we popped in to surprise Shirley and Delbert. All in all, a great Sunday!
Today we rested (HOT) We did the laundry, hung it on the line to "sizzle" while the men visited Jim's coffee fellas.....we picked raspberries also. Tonite we went to the HiLo restaurant to meet up with the "East Side Texans" for a fish buffet. We had a group of 29 people. (couldn't hear yourself think)
Tomorrow we plan on heading up to Brookings to see Dorothy and Vern Wendt. We will see if we can find others in the area also. We will go to Pipestone on the way---there is a Buffalo Ridge area that is real pretty, also the area is covered with those big wind generators....Mary can count them for Jim!
Wed. is unplanned as yet. Thurs. Mary and Dave are heading down to see Dorothy Brandes and the people in her area. So it has been a fun time for all. Love to all, Kay
