Ham Ball Recipe

 I got on the subject of ham balls and Susan Van Howelling sent me this recipe and I do believe I like this one better. I am a big fan of pineapple!

This and That

 A reminder came to me today that the scammers are out there. I had a Facebook message from a friend concerned about the Andrea Wilson or perhaps Andrea Wilson Woods message she had gotten and to let all her friends know as it was dangerous to sum it up in a nutshell. This hoax has been around for years and is nothing to get concerned about. If you should get that message don't forward it to all your Facebook friends or to anyone else, as a matter of fact. It is pure and simple a hoax. Delete the message and forget about it! As I've said many times before if people would only use their "smarts" to do something good instead of trying out their tricks on the unsuspecting public it would be ever so much better. I suspect the tricksters will keep trying unfortunately.

The weather here has turned cool and it rained most of the day today. The soybeans are starting to turn brown, a sure sign of fall. The leaves are trying to turn but nothing very pretty yet. We had a very dry summer so not sure what that might do to the fall color. My favorite season used to be winter, but back then I liked the snow and I liked to ice skate. Not now! I no longer get excited about snow and when November arrives I am ready to head south to warmer climates.

We are looking forward to traveling by car and a shorter duration trip than when we towed the 5th wheel. We had lots of fun over the years but we are at the point where it was time to get rid of the RV, which we did this summer. We have a fair amount of work we are going to be doing on the mobile we bought so that will keep us busy for a while. I am working on a king-sized quilt, probably the last super-sized quilt I will make. Wall hangings are much more fun, cheaper to make and MUCH quicker!

We will be mowing our lawn either tomorrow or most likely Monday and then hopefully only once or twice more depending on the weather. Last year our first frost was very late (I think) but the grass slowed down quite dramatically even without a frost. It knows that winter is coming!

We are looking forward to seeing lots of Magnolia people when we get back to Texas and this year Deral Rogers will be joining us as he has purchased a mobile in Trails End. 

Our Baltimore Orioles have left but we still have at least one hummer left. The males have been gone but I still see one or two females come for a drink. They are already showing up in the Rio Grande Valley but that is not their final destination. Many will head down to the Central America area. It's a very long journey and no, they do not hitch a ride on geese as the old story went. That is untrue. They fly, all on their own.
