This blogs sole purpose has transitioned to one of keeping in touch with each other. Over the years it has been primarily for letting everyone know what is happening and also for promotion to add more folks to our Winter Texan family. The core of things has changed and we must change along with it. We still want to know what is happening with our friends no matter where they may be located. So continue to let us know where you are and what is on your plate.

Flooding in Deep South Texas
Bill Sager sent these pictures of the flooding in the areas we all enjoy every winter. You may also want to check the Rio Valley Estates blog that can be located in the links section of this site. Donna has written more about it and included a Nat'l weather service report on it.
Thanks Bill for sending along this news.

From the Hannewalds
Wanted to touch base with our Magnolia friends.....it has been an eventful summer on the Betsie River. Since our daughter has not talked us into getting a computer, she is writing this for us ! I had knee replacement surgery scheduled for last week....but to make a long story short, after preop testing, a tumor was found on my bladder. On July 6 I had it removed and yesterday ( 12th ) we received the wonderful news that it was not malignant...and I will just have to be checked every few months !!! I have decided to wait on the knee...enough excitement for now. We've had a bear visit our birdfeeders lately...much to our dismay.....but since our daughter loves bears...we will name it and watch from a distance !!! Hope you are all having a great summer.
Love,
Dorothy and Dick Hannewald

picture with letter from Judy Lowary!!
We had dinner with Bill and Dory, and this picture is worth a 1,000
words. Bill had his 2nd Chemo treatment and we thought he was good. We
enjoyed the evening with them. They play the waiting game....waiting
for doctor appointments, waiting for tests, waiting for results....and
they will wait to make the decision to come to Texas until time gets
closer. Thought you'd like to see for yourself.

Alex Update
Marie Flood sent some pictures of the aftermath of Alex. She says,"No damage in the park. A few small limbs down and the office flooded. Other than that just some water."
Any Bites, Bill?
From Marie Flood
Just took a spin around the park with my camera. No pictures. Only thing we see is some flooding and not much of that. I have had a little over 5inches since last night. No real wind damage a few small limbs but thats all. It is supposed to coming on shore right now and we are having a few showers and some breezey winds. No heavy stuff. Thats all for now. Will write more if it gets worse. Marie
