This blogs sole purpose has transitioned to one of keeping in touch with each other. Over the years it has been primarily for letting everyone know what is happening and also for promotion to add more folks to our Winter Texan family. The core of things has changed and we must change along with it. We still want to know what is happening with our friends no matter where they may be located. So continue to let us know where you are and what is on your plate.

Marie Flood sends more Dolly Pics
Thanks Marie for sending the pictures. We have all been very curious about it. It looks like some big time clean-up/fix-up will be the order of the day.

What Dolly Did
Just a note, Dolly hit pretty hard, but nobody in Magnolia hurt. Lots of damage. trees down, awnings off, etc. I have pictures and will post them as soon as I get them developed. Electric has been off all night and a lot of places still without electric. We just got a motel and I got Dale and Vivian laying down. Came home to get some stuff and check the fridge and the electric.was on. Well its paid for might as well stay there the night. Will be back on line tomorrow. Still no phone. Marie

More Dolly
I am a little behind but here is another post from Marie:
Well it is 3:20 and we have winds about 35-40 with gust a little higher. Still not much rain, but looks like more coming. Dolly is starting to break up so do not expect too much damage here in the park. Have not been out to check the park yet, on Cottonwood St there has been no damage at all. Will check the rest of the park when we can get out. Wish I had a camera so I could send some pictures. Will get back to you later. Marie

Hello Dolly!
From Marie Flood:
"An early up date. Here in Magnolia park we have had less than 1/2" of rain and some winds although nothing strong. No trees, electric, or anything else down. Looks like we are going to miss all the heavy stuff. It is sitting in the Gulf playing with us right now. Will try to let you know if any damage after this thing passes." Marie

What Kay V. does
Here are two pictures that Kay Voss sent me along with an explanation. Send me an item about what you are doing and I will post it too.
Kay says, "Here we are--(not Jim next to me, but a fella that just stopped to
rest) on the 4th! We were invited again to come to the local Pioneer
Village to show some of our pressure cookers and canned goods. We
took a few of our (14) pressure cookers and a sample of canned foods.
I also included some dried things. New this year was a jar of canned
butter! I read about it on the internet, so had to try it. Turned
out like "canned sunshine"---- and was a big hit with the people. I
have so much butter in the freezer and need the room for other things,
so thought I would give it a try.
There was a lady baking cookies on a wood stove near us, so lots of
traffic going by! It was an interesting day. Hope you all had a fun
day too, Kay"

4th of July Party at the Little Hall
Well here we are half way through this year already.. It doesn't seem like it should be this late, but here we are...We had a 4th of July party at the little hall with 17 of the residents attending...We had lots of good food of course....After all this is Magnolia Park and we know what good food is all about.... HA HA...There is always enough food for at least two meals so you always have some left overs for supper...There were a few of the residents that didn't attend as they had made other plans with friends or family but we had a nice turn out anyway....We were blessed with a nice shower of rain in the early morning....We have needed rain badly, so this was welcomed greatly... We hope all of our NORTHERN Family had a great 4th holiday...Every one keep safe and healthy as we miss you....
