Thelma M. Jordan, age 81, of Stockton died Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at home with her family.
She was born July 27, 1931 in Lena, Illinois, the daughter of Oliver & Anna (Lobdell) Holmes. She was a 1950 graduate of Lena High School. Thelma married Robert Jordan on June 7, 1950 in Lena, Illinois.
She was a hardworking woman all her life and always had a smile for everyone. Over the years she worked at Atwoods, Microswitch, Janlin Plastics & Kolb-Lena Cheese. She enjoyed reading, traveling, playing cards with family & the 500 club.
She loved her grandchildren & great-grandchildren and enjoyed watching Stockton sports over the years and the Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed opening the gym at the Elementary School for basketball practice when her grandsons played. She also enjoyed traveling over the years to Branson, MO, Canada, England, Hawaii, California and various other trips across the U.S. Last year they wintered in Texas for the first time and really enjoyed their many new friends and the wonderful weather.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Jordan of Stockton; 4 sons, David (Debbie) Jordan of Cedarville, Mike (Pat) Jordan of Stockton, James Jordan of Stockton, Jeff (Cammie) Jordan of Germantown Hills, IL; 1 daughter, Patti (Brian) Pierce of Stockton; 14 grandchildren; Chad, Brad (Holly), Brian (Nicole), Tom (Candyce), Steve (Erin), Andy (Sarah), Katie & McKenzie Jordan, Tony & Karly Pierce, Christine (Joel) Ellefson, Brent (Kelsey), Robert & Jonathan Scheive; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Maurice (Elaine) Holmes; and 1 sister, Lois Phillips, both of Lena.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 6 brothers, Elwyn, Francis, Johnny, LaVerne, Glen, and Wayne Holmes; and 4 sisters, Evelyn Herbert, Marilyn Anderson, Dorothy Kleckler, and Esther Reuber.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton, IL.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Cemetery, Freeport, IL at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012 with a one hour visitation starting at 10 a.m.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
