From Janet Rader about Lucy Urius

  • Lucy has colon cancer. She had surgery Sat. and they removed all the cancer and reattached the colon. Lucy is doing well, she is very tired and all cards, prayers and well wishes I'm sure will be appreciated.

Update on Eva Foote

Mom is resting. She is in hospice at Gunderson hospital in La Crosse  Wi    What caused her problem is lack of blood to her intestine and basicly the intestine started to deteriorate and is too far gone to be able to do anything for her.  Dad and I got here about 10 this morning and Mom knows who we are.  She is very swollen and breathing like a fish out of water.  Will update more later if things change.  Elinor and Connie stayed the night with Mom last night. All but Roger will stay tonight if nothing changes.    David

About Eva Foote from Jackie Dobson

just received word this am that they took eva to the hospital in WI.  I just heard from their youngest son that he was on his way home to IA -as they do not expect eva to live another 2-3 days.  Something about another stroke and this time it affected her lower intestines.  Just now another call and she had 3 holes in the lower intestine and the intestine was dead.  Will let you know if I hear anymore news.  Everyone on their way to be with mom and dad. Senior Discounts

Keep this list - - - and Send a copy to your senior friends and relatives.

As I was waiting in line behind an older gentleman at Wendy's recently, I heard him ask for his senior discount. The girl at the register apologized and charged him less. When I asked the man what the discount was, he told me that seniors over age 55 gets 10% off everything on the menu, every day.

Being of 'that' age myself, I figured I might as well ask for the discount too.
This incident prompted me to do some research, and I came across a list of restaurants, supermarkets, department stores, travel deals and other types of offers giving various discounts with different age requirements. I was actually surprised to see how many there are and how some of them start at the young age of 50.

Hi just sitting here watching qualifying. All is well last thursday I made chili and baked potatoes for 15 of us. Had it in the little hall. Was fun. We captured one of the foxes. There were birds in the pool hall. Sandy and I got
one more out this morning , Tony was trying to plug up the holes they made to get in. My cute Mexican man is getting to be awesome, enjoying himself and doing more things like going to pool, helped with the chili deal went out to eat with a bunch of us. Well enough on that subject. Sandy had to put her cat asleep last night, it was 13 years old. Bye, Oh I have a nickname now and it's not b*^%#----the catcus kid... could be worse. You'll see why when you get here.

Victoria Palms has a stash house?

This article sent to me from Eleanor Piche in Canada is about illegals in Victoria Palms. Weird, right?
"Donna police say that this case was quite rare.
Usually illegal immigrants are found hiding out in more rural or run-down areas, but not in areas as luxurious as the Victoria Palms RV Resort in Donna.
A phone call from management about a possible stash house led Donna police to the park on Monday afternoon.
By the time officers and Border Patrol agents arrived, neighbors saw over a dozen illegal immigrants jump the fence and flee into a nearby cornfield.
Though it seems stash house busts are on the rise in the valley, Lieutenant Rick Suarez says the Victoria Palms was the last place he thought as a pit stop for human smugglers.
"I'm very surprised to see that that's where they're storing them now. Normally they'd stash them in old beat up houses. In this particular case, I guess they were storing them there. But it got people's attention," admits the lieutenant.
Lt. Suarez then says police and border patrol officers rounded up twelve men and one woman.
They all admitted they'd been traveling to the united states all the way from el Salvador.
Management at the Victoria Palms chose not to comment about this case. They say they are still waiting for the investigation to finish."

Kay's Clever Idea

I  cleaned out the big container of purses that I have made over the
years---how about using them for flower pots??  They make me smile
when I look at them!  I lined the purses with plastic bags, and filled
with dirt and flowers....
