From Kay Voss-Tower Inspection

YIKES---Chuck up on our tower, doing inspection !  I hated even
looking up to take the pictures....all is well, they just go up every
so often to see what is up there I guess.  NOT a job for
me....neighbors are very curious, some have stopped to watch.

Added by Barb: I understand this is one of the most hazardous jobs there is and that many lose their lives every year. Yikes is right!

From Leslie about Lloyd Mertes

"I don't know if you remember Lloyd Mertes or not. He and Alice used to be in Magnolia in a 5th wheel down in the ghetto right beside us. He just passed away this morning. He had bone cancer and didn't last long after they found out. He has been in the nursing home for just a few weeks. I don't have funeral details yet but will send that when I hear."

Update on Dorothy Hannewald

Wanted to update you all on Mom's situation.....The past several weeks have been so hectic and busy, just haven't had the time....Mom had her initial heart attack on April 26......she was rushed by ambulance to the hospital...they did CPR and difibulation in the ambulance and put a stent in at the hospital....she did pretty well for a few days....then on Tues. of the following week, she was in the shower...passed out and fell...hit her head on the floor and they had to do CPR/Defib again......we rushed to the hospital....after an hour or so.....she did it again.....another round of CPR and Defib.....she came out of it.....in the process. they broke 3 ribs doing CPR......for the next few days she progressed well....but heart was still beating too slowly....so they decided to put in a pacemaker.....that went well....so after 13 days in the hospital, we brought her home..... she needs 3 weeks of TLC and care before cardiac rehab.... so we brought her home with us to Ohio...will take them home around the first of June.......Dad also needs a pacemaker......but we haven't scheduled that yet......Mom and Dad wanted me to thank you all for your prayers and cards.......The Doctors  told us it is a miracle that's she's still with us....so we thank God for that.....lots of changes ahead....and I'm so thankful they got home from Texas before this all happened....they hadn't even unpacked their suitcases yet ! Will keep in touch......Judie Mathews ( daughter )

From Helen Alt

Dear Magnolia Friends:
I want to say Thank You to all our friends for all the cards and memorial gifts sent to me after Lester's death on April 2nd.Also for all the thoughts and prayers said on my behalf as well as all for Lester.
His time after leaving Magnolia on March 14th was short but he is at peace and out of pain. He loved Magnolia Park and all our friends. Thanks for all you've done.

After Glow Smileycons!

I'd like the memory of me
 to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an after glow
of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and
sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who
grieve to dry before the sun
Of happy memories that I leave
When life is done.

Peacocks- They Are Back!!

Several people around Magnolia Park last season asked Peggy G. and I where we found our peacocks that were yard decorations. Mine had been a gift from Peggy. She had found them at Target and had waited until they went on clearance before she purchased them. Thus the thought that they could not be purchased any longer. BUT
Yesterday I received the following email from Peggy. So if you have a target in your vicinity...
"ON SALE THIS WEEK AT TARGET THE PEACOCK FOR $25.00  THE COLOR IS DIFFERENT BUT THE SAME SIZE AS OURS:-) "

Sunday Services

Well today was the last service at Magnolia Park for this season until next fall....We still had 14 in the service in the little hall to worship and learn from God's word....Pastor Stacey invited everyone that were going to be in the Valley for the summer to come to his Church in Donna...That would be the First Baptist Church at 1009 Hester Avenue.....All will be welcomed....

Pastor Stacey today brought the message from the Book of St. Matthew, Chapter 11, starting with verse 7 with the theme of "Ask, Seek and Knock "....The lesson brought forth of how God answers his children when they ask for their desires, and how we should seek just what God has planed for us and be ready to knock at Gods door and ask what his plan for our lives is....This is a great lesson for study....Pastor said that just as when our children ask us for different things, we always try to give our children what is best for them....As this was the first Sunday of the month communion was given at the end of the service.....I thought that the timing was great for communion as this was the last service for the season.....Remember during the summer when ever some one comes to mind,  please pray for that person as they may need prayer for some need at that time.....Pray also for any sick that you hear of....

Have safe travels and a happy summer....See you in the fall with the new season.....GOD BLESS ALL....
