Josephine Spagnuolo's Obituary

Josephine Spagnuolo
Lansing, MI

Josephine Spagnuolo peacefully left this world on March 5, 2007 at age 83. Her family was at her side as she slipped into eternal sleep. Born prematurely on November 9, 1923 in Urbana, Missouri, Josephine (Crawford) Spagnuolo instantly became a fighter. She grew up in rural Missouri and remained there until she met Tony Spagnuolo who was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood Army base. They were married October 8, 1943. Tony was immediately deployed to Europe to fight in World War II while Josephine returned to Michigan with Tony's parents while they waited for his return from the war. Josephine and Tony were blessed with 64 years of marriage. The commitment, devotion and love they shared for each other has been a inspiration to all who knew them. After experiencing three stokes, the third in January 2005, Josephine was moved to Burcham Hills Medical Facility and remained there for the past two years. Josephine continued to exhibit her fighting spirit with the daily assistance of her loving husband at her side. She spent her days at Burcham Hills with her husband who lovingly pushed her up and down the halls, fed her, and attended to her every need. Although Josephine will be sorely missed, the essence and strength of her spirit will live on in each of us as she rests in the peaceful arms of her Creator. Survivors include her devoted husband, Tony, along with their three children: George, his wife Leslie, Richard, his wife Nikki, and Rosie and her husband, Bill Bickert. Surviving grandchildren include Tony (Rocio), Cassandra (Mike), Misha, Raquel (Bruce), Tiffany (Kyle), Richard (Jessie), Charity, Michael (Kathy), and Daniel (Kitti). Great-grandchildren include Joshua, Shana, Lucas, Jason Daniel, Gavin Michael, Andrea, Anthony, Max, Laura Lynn, Cheyenne, Bryce, Greylynd, Sariah, Morgan, Tyler, Ethan, Catarina, Nicholas, Nathan, Kiara (deceased angel), and Elijah. Visitation will be on Friday, March 9, 2007 at Chapel In The Pines Funeral Home, 101 W. Jolly Road, Lansing, MI 48910 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning, March 10, 2007 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. The family asks that any donations be made in Josephine's name to St. Vincent Catholic Charities in Lansing.
