THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PHOENIX HAS ISSUED AN AIR STAGNATION ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM MST THURSDAY. A VERY STABLE ATMOSPHERE COMBINED WITH LIGHT WINDS... WILL LEAD TO STAGNANT AIR CONDITIONS OVER THE VALLEYS OF SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH CENTRAL ARIZONA. THIS INCLUDES THE GREATER PHOENIX METROPOLITAN AREA AND SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES...AND THE YUMA AREA.
THE STAGNANT AIR CONDITIONS COULD PERSIST INTO FRIDAY MORNING ...HOWEVER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO IMPROVE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AS WINDS GRADUALLY INCREASE AHEAD OF AN APPROACHING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM.
