Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan del Valle - National Shrine

The Shrine is under construction and will remain so for quite some time. They are renovating the altar. In the past many tourists have visited the Shrine but I suspect the tourist traffic will be at a lower level until construction is complete. We went for our first visit this past Saturday and learned of the construction so we plan to return when they are prepared to put on their new face . Tuesday Morning Coffee...

The Tuesday morning coffee is getting more crowded like it should be.. We are having new people and some old Friends from last year coming in it seems like every day.. Coffee time is a good time to catch up on all that has happened over the summer and to learn what is coming up in the park. It's nice to see that a few new folks are coming into our park.. Now if some of the hold outs from up North will just come on down...... All I can say is that it's nice weather here and we don't have to shovel any snow.. HA HA

Stray Pills?

A good site to bookmark-
Stray Pills?

This page is from a site run by the Medical University of South
Carolina. On it is what they call the "Drug Identifier". If you have
a stray pill and don't know what it is, you can enter the shape, color,
and markings into their identifier/search engine, and voila, you can
discover what the medication is. I'm sure anyone who takes medication
regularly would find this helpful.

TODAY'S JOKE:

A woman's husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several
months, yet she had stayed by his bedside every single day. One day, he
motioned for her to come nearer. As she sat by him, he whispered eyes
full of tears, "You know what? You have been with me all through the bad
times. When I got fired, you were there to support me. When my business
failed, you were there. When I got shot, you were by my side. When we
lost the house, you stayed right here. When my health started failing,
you were still by my side. And do you know what..?" he whispered.

"What's that, dear?" she gently asked, smiling as her heart began to
fill with warmth.

"I think you're bringing me bad luck. . ."

The first computer class took place this morning in the little hall with 9 people in attendance. I have since learned that some folks forgot all about it and plan to attend next week so it sounds like our group will grow. The next class will be Friday December 2nd, at 9:00 AM in the Little Hall. If you have a laptop bring it with you and if your laptop is WiFi capable you will be able to connect to the Internet in the Little Hall. We plan to have lots of fun and learn a few things during our computer sessions this season.Smile!

A THANKSGIVING POEM Smile!

TWAS THE NIGHT OF THANKSGIVING, I JUST COULDN'T SLEEP
I TRIED COUNTING BACKWARDS, I TRIED COUNTING SHEEP.

THE LEFTOVERS BECKONED - THE DARK MEAT AND WHITE
BUT I FOUGHT THE TEMPTATION WITH ALL OF MY MIGHT

TOSSING AND TURNING WITH ANTICIPATION
THE THOUGHT OF A SNACK BECAME INFATUATION.

SO, I RACED TO THE KITCHEN, FLUNG OPEN THE DOOR
AND GAZED AT THE FRIDGE, FULL OF GOODIES GALORE.

I GOBBLED UP TURKEY AND BUTTERED POTATOES,
PICKLES AND CARROTS, BEANS AND TOMATOES.

I FELT MYSELF SWELLING SO PLUMP AND SO ROUND,
'TIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, I ROSE OFF THE GROUND.

I CRASHED THROUGH THE CEILING, FLOATING INTO THE SKY
WITH A MOUTHFUL OF PUDDING AND A HANDFUL OF PIE.

BUT, I MANAGED TO YELL AS I SOARED PAST THE TREES....
HAPPY EATING TO ALL - PASS THE CRANBERRIES, PLEASE.

MAY YOUR STUFFING BE TASTY, MAY YOUR TURKEY BE PLUMP.
MAY YOUR POTATOES 'N GRAVY HAVE NARY A LUMP,

MAY YOUR YAMS BE DELICIOUS MAY YOUR PIES TAKE THE PRIZE,
MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER STAY OFF OF YOUR THIGHS.

AND MAY YOUR THANKSGIVING BE BLESSED!!

Mary Urbonovic putts on hole #2 at the Executive course.
Magnolia Park has a time slot at the Executive course on 1015. It is 11:30 AM on Tuesdays and all golfers are welcome. Yesterday was a near perfect day for golf. Warm temperatures and light breezes. This photo is Gerry Hanson on hole # 2.
Happy Thanksgiving! I am sure the Christmas decorations are soon to follow. I thought this to be a simple yet clever way to decorate for Thanksgiving.

Wisconsin snow

Gerry Hanson's daughter sent her this picture of the view in Wisconsin. We all could label it 'Why we head south!'. Even though it has been rather dark and dank in sunny south Texas the last few days we can put on a light jacket and we are good to go. We also know the sun will come out tomorrow...betch yer bottom dollar... Smile! Posted by Picasa

Edna

Meet Edna Anderson. She taught religion in a Donna TX school for 25 years. She works on the weeds throughout the park. She has 19 spayed and neutered healthy cats that she watches over and if she hears of a cat being mistreated in any way it will bring her to tears. She is a very special lady. The response indicates that many of you have obviously stopped to visit with her. Posted by Picasa

Gas Prices - MSN Autos

Gas Prices - MSN Autos Are you keeping up with the lowest gas prices in your area? I have found this site to be the most accurate and this is the one I used throughout our trip to look ahead.
There have been three responses to the mystery photo thus far and they were all correct. In the order which they were received: Don Loring, Pat & Myron, Bernice Moritz. I will reveal the location tomorrow for those who do not have time or inclination to find it.Have a good one!!

Step three: Slice along each membrane and flip the segment into a dish. In less than a minute a grapefruit is 'good to go'!
Step two: Cut off the rind all around it.

How to butcher a grapefruit

Years ago son Gary told me his method for cutting up a grapefruit and it works very well. Step one: cut of each end so it sits flat. Posted by Picasa
